Titche-Goettinger department store opened its doors around 1929, and architect George Dahl gave it the grandeur to match, with Florentine palazzo bones, Texas motifs, and Art Deco flourishes. Nearly a century later, Unit 218 keeps that grandeur and adds modern comfort. Two soaring arched windows pour sunlight across dark stained concrete-style floors, framing an ornate column with crown molding that was clearly built to impress. Overhead, spiral ductwork and a ceiling fan add industrial edge, and the open floor plan lets you set up living, dining, and work areas however you like. Along one wall, the kitchen pairs black cabinetry and granite counters with stainless steel appliances, including an electric range, dishwasher, over-the-range microwave, and full-size fridge, all under a pendant light and wood-look flooring. A warm wood sliding door leads to a bath and closet suite with a granite vanity, a framed mirror, a crisp white-tile tub/shower, and a walk-in closet with built-in shelving, plus a utility area with washer/dryer hookups. Swing open the steel casement windows and Elm Street is right there, with the 1931 Art Deco Tower Petroleum Building (now the Renaissance Saint Elm hotel) filling the view. You're in the Dallas Downtown Historic District near Theater Row, steps from the Majestic Theatre, the Main Street District, great restaurants, and DART transit. Building amenities: fitness center, clubhouse, and an on-site restaurant, all just steps from downtown Dallas dining, entertainment, and transit. Available now!
