Welcome to the H.E. Hall Homestead, a beautiful estate over looking the tidal Chandler River. With 14 lovely acres of rolling hills, fields, and forest there is much to explore and enjoy. This historic property, which has been lovingly restored, is full of country charm and elegance with surrounding gardens, fruit trees, mature flowering shrubs and a spring fed pond. The 1797 home, which faces south, is perched on a pastoral hill offering unobstructed views of the river from east to west. Watch ospreys and eagles dive, seals chase fish at high tide and deer graze in the fields by the water. The home, which is currently running as a well-liked bed and breakfast, boasts a commercial kitchen, large combination living/dining room overlooking the river and 5 bedrooms all with their own private bathrooms. The basement offers two garage doors with areas for a vehicle or storage. The third floor attic is large and open to serve as ample storage space or could be finished for additional living space. In addition to the home, there are several outbuildings including a 18 x 24 custom pole barn built in 19th century style which could serve as a workshop, home gym or even be finished as a guest house. There is also a 20 x 30 cape style storage building with loft space and a nicely finished 14 x 24 storage shed. The small quaint town of Jonesboro is 10 minutes from Machias, the county seat, which has a full service hospital, a university, churches, restaurants, shopping and cultural events. Other nearby amenities include horse stables, hiking, nature preserves, fresh and saltwater boat launches, and beaches. Perhaps you've always dreamed of having your own bed and breakfast or maybe you are looking for the perfect location for horses, a winery, or an upscale farm. This property is the perfect place for nature enthusiasts, gardeners, or anyone looking for an idyllic historic home in the quiet, scenic, countryside of coastal Maine.
