$1,895 /OneYear

This one-bedroom on West George Street sits in a vintage brick walk-up a few blocks off the Avondale commercial strips. The apartment has been brought up to date without losing what makes these buildings worth living in: the oak floors have been refinished and run through the main rooms, the ceilings are tall, and every room pulls daylight from oversized windows rather than a single airshaft. The kitchen has been updated and includes a dishwasher, and the bathroom has been redone as well. Heat is electric baseboard, and there is no central air conditioning in the unit. Laundry is available on site in the building, shared by residents. Parking is not included and there is no dedicated space with the apartment, so plan on street parking in the neighborhood. Rent is $1,895 a month with an October 1 move-in, on a one-year lease. Cats and dogs are both welcome, subject to the building's restrictions and pet fees. The block sits within easy reach of the Kennedy, CTA bus and rail service, and the restaurants and bars along Milwaukee, Belmont and Diversey. Pictures may be of a similar unit in the building.
